Emerging Intelligent Media Technology for Public Security
Sept. 30, 2019 (closed)
Recently, public safety and security have become a very important social issue in terms of the quality of life and welfare of citizens. As an important responsibility of some administrative organizations, like police stations and so on, public security is critical to stable environment and public order. It is also essential to social peace and national stability. Public security involves several aspects, including citizens’ life, work, study, entertainment, communication, etc. In the face of the complicated and ever-changing international situations as well as the internal arduous and burdensome tasks of reform, public security has been more and more significant.
However, in the era of big data and artificial intelligence (AI), the public security suffers from more severe technical challenges. The traditional police modes can no longer meet the urgent needs of effective prevention, timely suppression and efficient detection of criminal activities or an act of terrorism. Therefore, it is necessary to enhance the public safety and security by utilizing evolving intelligent sensor and media technologies such as monitoring public spaces and detecting risk factors, and to analyze situations, such as human behavior and psychological conditions.
